Russia and Cuba will cooperate in the field of education

The educational ministries of Russia and Cuba agreed to establish an interdepartmental working group for cooperation. This was reported in the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, writes TASS.

“A solemn ceremony of signing a document on the creation of an interdepartmental working group on cooperation between the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Cuba took place,” the Russian ministry said.

It is clarified that the signed document provides for cooperation in the organization of recreation and rehabilitation of children, as well as in the field of general, secondary vocational and additional vocational education.

May 19, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced on the resumption of regular flights between the two countries from July 1. The day before, the Deputy Prime Minister also said that Russia plans to increase the number of direct charter flights to Cuba from the end of May.

Following the completion of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s tour of Latin America in April, Tatiana Mashkova, Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation with Latin America, stated Vedomosti that relations between Russia and Cuba are now very important for both countries, despite the strong difference in the economy.

According to the interlocutor, these relations are equal – for 60 years, Cuba has been a permanent ally for the Russian Federation in the Western Hemisphere, which is extremely valuable for Moscow, even given the improvement in relations with larger Latin American countries like Brazil, Mashkova noted. She also added that it is in the interests of Russia to strengthen the Cuban energy sector, as well as help in replicating the production of medicines.
