EU authorities have imposed sanctions on nine citizens of the Russian Federation, accusing them of violating human rights. This was reported in the Official Journal of the EU on Monday 5 June.
Restrictions were introduced for allegedly violating the rights of politician and publicist Vladimir Kara-Murza (recognized in Russia as a foreign agent), who was sentenced in the Russian Federation to 25 years in a strict regime colony for treason and discrediting the Russian army.
The black list of Brussels included, in particular, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Oleg Sviridenko and four judges.
After the sentencing of Kara-Murza, who, along with Russian citizenship, has a British passport, Great Britain imposed sanctions against five citizens of the Russian Federation. Under restrictive measures were the judge of the Basmanny Court of Moscow Elena Lenskaya, investigators Denis Kolesnikov and Andrey Zadachin, as well as two employees of the FSB of the Russian Federation, Alexander Samofal and Konstantin Kudryavtsev.
Dissatisfaction with the sentence of Kara-Murza was also expressed in harsh terms in other Western countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in this regard summoned the ambassadors of these stateswhere “everything was explained to them, and so in a harsh tone, without any, you know, desire to soften something, somehow slow down.”
