Russia and China will create a subcommittee on cooperation in the field of satellite navigation

The Russian government instructed Roskosmos, together with the Russian Foreign Ministry, to coordinate with China the creation of a subcommittee on cooperation in the field of satellite navigation. Documentsigned by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, published on the portal of legal information.
In accordance with the instructions, the state corporation and the Foreign Ministry should coordinate and sign with Beijing a protocol to the Agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the PRC on the establishment of a mechanism for regular meetings of heads of government of June 27, 1997.
The protocol proposes to strengthen the practical interaction between Russia and China in the field of satellite navigation, to ensure the compatibility and complementarity of the Russian GLONASS and the Chinese Beidou system. The proposed subcommittee is also designed to promote the development of navigation technologies and their widespread use in various industries.
The co-chairman of the subcommittee from the Russian side should be the general director of Roskosmos, and from the Chinese side – the head of the commission on the Chinese navigation satellite system. Subcommittee meetings must be held at least once a year.
