Russia and China develop partnership in the field of high-tech sports

At the Russian-Chinese business forum taking place in Shanghai, the leaders of the Games of the Future project and the eSports Committee of the Internet Society of China (ISC) signed an agreement on cooperation to promote and develop digital sports. Before that, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin made a corresponding proposal.

“In March 2023, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin invited Chinese friends to participate in the International Games of the Future tournament,” Mishustin said.

“Games of the Future” is a new international tournament in digital sports with elements of a bright show that will bring together the most innovative, youthful, technological disciplines. The event will be held from February 23 to March 2, 2024 in Kazan, bringing together classic and innovative sports on one site using virtual and augmented reality technologies.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko at the round table of the business forum “Prospects for Russian-Chinese Dialogue in the Sphere of Digitalization” expressed confidence in the success of the project. “Games of the Future will be an impetus for the development of many industries, including computer games, digital products, robotics and artificial intelligence, which will be integrated into the competition program,” he stressed.

The head of the Games of the Future project, Igor Stolyarov, invited the maximum number of Chinese teams to take part in the tournament and said that the Russian side would share any information to promote the tournament and its possible holding in China in 2025. In turn, ISC Secretary General Tian Sheng Jie noted that “China is interested in the development of new technologies, the formation of an esports community in our country, a modern look at broadcasting and the promotion of competitions.”
