Rugby players “Kuban” climbed on the podium

The championships of Russia are coming to an end more and more actively, three more tournaments came to an end last week. It is interesting that the Krasnodar teams took only odd places in them, among which there is a prize! As you know, something ends – something begins. The Russian beach soccer championship also started, where the Kuban club made its debut.

Rugby players of “Kuban” were able to fulfill the task set for the season – to get into the top three. This was decided in the final seventh round, which took place in Moscow on May 27-28.

Krasnodar started the group stage confidently, beating Zilant from Kazan and the uncompromising Vityaz from Perm. In the final match of the group and the entire first day, the southerners met with the hosts of the tour – CSKA. The capital club won the Russian championship for the third time in a row, having secured another title in the previous round. In a tense struggle, the Muscovites were stronger – 22:10.

In the quarter-finals, Krasnodar did not notice Rostov-DSTU on their way, defeating the Don team with a score of 32: 0. The semi-final was the only match where Kuban could not show anything. The club “VVA-Podmoskovye” became the silver medalist ahead of schedule, and in this round the “military pilots” showed their best game. They confidently beat Kuban girls – 34 : 0. They did not stop there and in the final for the first time in the season CSKA also won – 14 : 10. By the way, the army club lost only once in the season.

Kuban, on the other hand, had a game for third place, in which the Krasnodar team face-to-face faced the main competitor in the fight for bronze medals – Krasnoyarsk Yenisei-STM.

The fight was the most difficult. In the first half, Maxim Amonov’s wards had almost no possession of the ball, they fought back for all seven minutes. But they did it successfully. The second half also started with problems. “Kuban” constantly played defense. But the situation has changed dramatically. A delightful attempt was made by Diana Kudzieva. Krasnodar not far from their city finally took possession of the ball. Diana kicked forward with her foot, slipped through half of the opposing team, played football again, punching herself in the move. And she successfully landed the ball in someone else’s scorecard. Krasnodar soon doubled their lead after a “standard” at the very line of the in-goal field of rivals – an attempt in the asset of Natalia Schukina. One exact implementation was on the account of Daria Lushina – 12: 0.

So it just didn’t end. Kubanochek was overwhelmed with emotions, in the struggle after the initial blow, the most experienced rugby player of Kuban Navrat Khamidova overdid it and got sent off. Siberians quickly brought in the majority of the attempt. There were still thirty seconds to play. Fortunately, the southerners defended the winning result. Score 12: 7 – victory and bronze medals for Kuban for the first time since 2019.

The team took a step forward compared to last season when they finished fourth. Plus, she successfully performed in beach rugby and rugby in the snow.

In the quarter-finals, Krasnodar had chances against Viktor, in both matches they were only behind by a one-goal difference. In the semi-finals for the fifth – eighth places, Dynamo from Astrakhan lost for small. But they confidently defended the seventh place from the encroachments of SGAU-Saratov. The start of the away match was not easy. Goalkeeper Vadim Kondratenko did not save a single shot out of eight. The top scorer of SKIF Savely Shalabanov did not work out. Difficulties, fortunately, were temporary. Successfully played another goalkeeper – Alexei Krikunov. In the end, Shalabanov scored his own. Score 32: 27 – victory for SKIF. Timofey Maslennikov scored eleven times!

– The result is positive, but I did not convert many of my chances. Especially in the majority,” said Dmitry Karlov, SKIF’s mentor. – They made incomprehensible losses. Kondratenko played well last time here – today he didn’t have a good game. But Alexey Krikunov was reliable.

The return game ended the season. She did not become insipid, she gave a little intrigue. It all started out great: SKIF took the lead 7-1 after eleven minutes of play. Gradually, the advantage ceased to grow. And not only froze in place, but also began to decline. As a result, only two goals of advantage remained by the break – 13:11, and it could have been worse: the opponent did not use several chances. In the second half, the Saratov team managed to take the lead ten minutes before the end. Only three balls remained to requite. It was not good to end the season like this for SKIF. The hosts scored four times in a row, removing questions about the final winner, and at the same time won a specific match – 25:24. Shalabanov scored eight times, Maslennikov scored seven times.

– Set up to win. We wanted to successfully complete the last match of the season. But in the subconscious, the guys kept a five-goal difference following the results of the first match,” said Dmitry Karlov. – We started well, then made simple losses, literally gave the ball into the hands of the opponent and received counterattacks. In timeouts, he asked the guys to play more collected. It’s good that we got together and finished the match in our favor. How to evaluate the final seventh place? The playoffs showed that they could climb higher. Nevertheless, after last year’s tenth place, this is a step forward.

CSKA became the champion of Russia. The Moscow club convincingly outplayed rivals from the Perm Bears twice. “Chekhov Bears” surpassed the club “Victor”, becoming a bronze medalist. “Zenith” defeated the Astrakhan “Dynamo” in the fight for the fifth position.

Kuban confidently finished fifth, which it was in the regular season. The “yellow-greens” did not have a quarter-final series against “Lada”. But in the mini-tournament for fifth – eighth place Krasnodar played quite confidently. First, they outplayed Stavropolye twice, and played the last matches of the season against Dynamo-Sinara. Volgograd rather unexpectedly knocked out Astrakhanochka, which failed the finish of the season.

The previous games against the Dynamos were quite tense. In Volgograd, Krasnodar once lost in the regular season.

The first half of the away game turned out to be modest in terms of performance, which is generally typical for the confrontation between these teams. Score 12: 9 – led by Krasnodar. After the break, the attack of both teams revived, Kuban was again a little more accurate – 28: 23. Valeria Sobkalo from Krasnodar scored six goals on six shots.

— We were preparing to play defensively. And I think we succeeded,” summed up the head coach of “Kuban” Denis Saifulin. — There were optional deletions at the end. And yet, twenty-three goals conceded per game is normal. Everything we talked about before the game happened.

The last match of the season, held in Krasnodar, was a success – 29 : 20. Only in the first minutes of the Volgograd team were in the lead. Further, “Kuban” did not release the initiative from their hands. In the first half, the advantage remained modest, only one – three goals. The result for the break was 13:11. The first fifteen minutes of the second half were decisive. Krasnodar took the lead – 21 : 14. And calmly finished the match in their favor.

Valeria Sobkalo scored seven goals, Yana Savinova, the captain of Kuban, scored six times. The best among the goalkeepers of all teams was the experienced Elena Nikolaeva, who celebrated her birthday. She saved 35 percent of her shots (seven out of twenty).

– I’m not very happy with the first half. They couldn’t defend at all. And if they defended, then in the attack they could not score one on one, – said Denis Saifulin. – In the second half, the girls liberated themselves and showed the result. In general, the season had both good and bad moments. I wanted, of course, to compete for medals, but we did not succeed. But in the last matches we managed to win, finished the season on a good note.

The sensation struck in the bronze series. Zvezda, which was only sixth in the regular season, was able to beat Lada in both games. Seventh place went to Astrakhanochka. The national champion has not yet been determined. In the first game, CSKA defeated Rostov-Don at home with a score of 32: 28. The second game took place on the evening of May 30. A third fight is also possible.

The beach soccer season has begun. And here the news is really cool, if not historical: for the first time, a club from the Krasnodar Territory is trying its hand at the Super League. “Krasnodar-UMR” is set up quite seriously. The team played in tournaments in Moscow and St. Petersburg in the winter. Plus, she conducted a serious transfer campaign, joined the ranks of the team and two Brazilians.

It so happened that it was the Krasnodar team that took part in the opening match, which took place during the tour in Saratov. Southerners got the Moscow “Strogino” as rivals. The club is titled, but now it is experiencing a revival. It is gratifying to note that Krasnodar has the first victory in the championship. And it turned out to be quite convincing – 5: 1.

Next, the Kuban players were examined by the champions of the last two years – the Kristall players from St. Petersburg. The game turned out to be interesting. The favorite opened the scoring, Vladislav Sokolov was able to restore equality in the first half. In the second segment of the game, the St. Petersburg team took the lead again, and in the third they increased by opening thanks to the goals of the Brazilian legionnaires – 4: 1. However, it was a worthy performance of the southerners against the backdrop of the leader.

On June 2-4, the Krasnodar team will have three matches in a row: one of the giants, Lokomotiv Moscow, as well as Samara Krylya Sovetov and Spartak from the capital, will become the opponents.
