Rugby is our everything: a new sport will be developed in the Vladimir region

The authorities of the Vladimir region signed an agreement on the development of rugby in the region. Governor Alexander Avdeev announced this on his page on the social network.
On Wednesday, August 2, the head of the region met with the chairman of the Supreme Council of the Sports Federation (Union) of Rugby of Russia Roman Musikhin. During it, an agreement was signed on the development of this sport in the region.
A rugby field will be built in the suburbs of Vladimir on the Southern Highway near the Zhemchuzhina Hotel. But for the full development of this sport, this is clearly not enough. We need trainers, equipment and training grounds. There is none of this in the Vladimir region.
Why the regional authorities do not want to develop those sports disciplines for which there is already a base in the region is not clear. But something exotic for the Vladimir region liked the sport of Governor Avdeev.
As the head of the region wrote on his page in social networks: “People here love sports. Almost 60% of our countrymen lead an active lifestyle. And they are open to new things. They are happy to try curling in Murom, golf in Dobrograd. And rugby-7 entered the Olympic program before these two disciplines, in 2009.”. According to local authorities, major competitions and the availability of infrastructure will attract tourists who love active leisure to the region.
This is all true, but before that you need to create teams, build rugby fields, find coaches and work for several years in the direction of popularizing rugby among the population. All this will take a lot of money and time and it is not a fact that this will attract tourists to our region. There are doubts that Muscovites will come to us to watch the competitions of school rugby teams…
It may be better to develop those sports for which there are already all the conditions and fields and coaching staff, and the interest of residents, for example, football. It will be both cheaper and more efficient. Or exotic is more interesting??
