“Rostov” and “Ural” shared points in the tenth round of the Czech Republic football championship

The opening match of the tenth round of the Russian Football Championship between Rostov and Ural ended in a draw – 2:2. The Ekaterinburg team led 2:0 and, along with the victory, missed the opportunity to catch up with Zenit. But the Rostovites could also achieve success after being removed from the opponent’s lineup.

Before the match with Rostov, Ural was in eighth place with 14 points, although not so long ago they shared the championship lead with Krasnodar. But since then, the Ekaterinburg team suffered three defeats and one draw, and also stopped scoring altogether, having played to zero in attack in four games in a row. True, despite the obvious decline in results, their gap from Zenit, which closed the top three, was only three points.

The Rostov team was on the 11th line of the table with nine points. Moreover, in the previous two rounds they were unable to win the matches against Baltika and CSKA, during which they failed to maintain a two-goal advantage. And unlike Ural, the club from the banks of the Don was only three points from the relegation zone. In addition, the southerners had a real problem in defense and they had the worst record in the Premier League in terms of goals conceded – 19.

Of course, Rostov was missing its main central defender Maxim Osipenko, who finally returned to the starting lineup for the game with Ural. However, Valery Karpin’s players again failed to keep a clean sheet.

Already in the fourth minute, the Ekaterinburg team broke their goalless streak by converting a corner kick.

However, Guilherme Schettina’s goal turned out to be funny. The ball accidentally hit him in the head in transit through Andrey Yegorychev and successfully bounced into the net.

The Rostovites could immediately get even when their striker Egor Golenkov got ahead of goalkeeper Ilya Pomazun and slightly missed the target. And soon they missed for the second time. Pomazun made a long throw from his own half of the field to Eric Bikfalvi, who threw the ball to Yegorychev, who sent it into the goal. The hosts’ defense in this episode simply collapsed like a house of cards. And the main thing is that Rostov not only worsened its statistics, but also found itself on the verge of another defeat.

Karpin’s team had hope for a favorable outcome thanks to the super-attentive work of the VAR team, which saw light contact of the ball with the hand of Ural defender Kiki in the visitors’ penalty area.

The Portuguese was simply unlucky, especially since he was still fighting on horseback with Khoren Bayramyan, who was pushing him in the back, but referee Roman Galimov, having personally reviewed the moment, pointed to the “point”. As a result, Osipenko reduced the difference to a minimum with an unobvious penalty.

Shortly before the break, Alexei Mironov tried to equalize the score with a long-range shot, and Pomazun rescued the Yekaterinburg team, and Bayramyan shot close to the post after a corner kick. But the Rostovites distinguished themselves in the very opening of the second half, when Ilya Vakhania burst into the penalty area on the right flank, and Ural defender Artem Mamin blocked his cross, scoring a classic own goal. Inspired by the success, the hosts organized several more attacks, the most dangerous of which were repelled by Pomazun with strikes from Daniil Utkin and Golenkov.

The guests were also looking for happiness in someone else’s penalty area and almost found it after a corner kick, when Silvie Begic hit the goal.

It’s not a fact that goalkeeper Sergei Pesyakov would have managed to hit the ball, but Danil Glebov helped him. And in the 79th minute, Viktor Goncharenko’s team remained in the minority. Egorychev, stopping Mohammad Mohebi’s rush, committed, in the referee’s opinion, a foul of the “last hope” and saw a red card in front of him.

In such a situation, it was, of course, difficult for Ural to count on victory. “Rostov”, which had not won since the fourth round, on the contrary, felt the smell of three points and blocked the opponent’s goal. However, the match ended in a draw – 2:2. The Ekaterinburg team with 15 points rose to intermediate seventh place, and the Rostov team with ten points is still in 11th place.
