Rostec is upgrading the Malva self-propelled guns to combat NATO howitzers

Rostec is currently working on the creation of a modernized version of the Malva self-propelled artillery mount with an increased firing range to counter NATO howitzers, which are now supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. About it informed First Deputy General Director of the State Corporation Vladimir Artyakov in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Now a modernized version of the Malva is being created with an increased firing range. Believe me, we will have something to oppose to the long-range western howitzers that are now being supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he said.

The 152-mm self-propelled gun “Malva” is the first wheeled self-propelled howitzer in Russia, the completion of state tests of which “Rostec” informed at the end of July. Its main differences from tracked analogues are greater maneuverability, due to which the gun turns around faster in position and leaves them before return fire, as well as lower operating costs. The gun is capable of firing more than seven rounds per minute and hitting almost any object at a range of 24 km.

Earlier in August, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov, during which he instructed to increase the production of the latest weapons.

In July Rostec informed on the transfer of the first batch of self-propelled mortars 2S41 “Drok” to the army. In the same month, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that a batch of T-90M Proryv tanks and upgraded T-72B3M tanks had been sent to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Uralvagonzavod, which is part of Rostec, is also engaged in the modernization of T-72B tanks to T-72B3M, T80BV tanks to the level of T80BVM.
