“The use of modernized A-50U flying radars in the area of a special military operation allows us to quickly detect enemy air targets and effectively counter them with aviation and air defense forces. Taking into account the high demand for these vehicles in the troops, we have handed over another aircraft and in the near future we plan to complete the modernization of another A-50 complex,” said Vyacheslav Mikheev, general designer of the Vega Concern (part of the Ruselectronics holding).
Rostec noted that after modification, the aircraft was equipped with new equipment, which made it possible to reduce the weight of the aircraft, as well as increase the flight range and time in the air when performing combat missions. In addition, the updated A-50U can detect new types of aircraft and simultaneously track a larger number of targets and targeted fighters compared to the previous modification.
The state corporation also added that the aircraft was updated as part of the modernization of the AWACS aircraft fleet; the corresponding program is provided for by the state defense order.
