Rosselkhoznadzor denied reports of mass detection of antibiotics in strawberries

Rosselkhoznadzor refuted massive use of antibiotics in the cultivation of berries, in particular, in strawberries. Monitoring of the residual content of antibiotics grown in the Russian Federation and imported fruits, berries and mushrooms has begun, during which the Rosselkhoznadzor revealed only one case of tetracycline content in Russian strawberries. The ministry’s statement emphasizes that there is no talk of any mass use of medical antibiotics by manufacturers.

In crop production, antibiotics are used to treat bacterial diseases, but their volumes are small.

The service expects that the results of monitoring can become the basis for improving the regulatory framework in this area. In addition, they will help scientific activities to promote the development of ecological farming.
