Rosrybolovstvo has denied rumors of plans to feed Russians flour from flies

Flour and other black soldier fly products will not be used for human consumption. This was announced on Wednesday, November 15, by Rosrybolovstvo.
The department emphasized that we are talking about an incorrect interpretation of the Cabinet’s decisions by the media and Internet users.
The measure taken is necessary to expand the food supply for farm animals and fish, but not to include fly meal in the human diet, Rosrybolovstvo emphasized.
Previously, by order of the Government of the Russian Federation, the list of agricultural products whose producers can apply for state support within the framework of the state program for the development of agriculture was expanded. The authorities promised to support the production of coarse and fine flour from the black soldier fly, fats, as well as granules and puree from its larvae.
Some have concluded from this that the notorious flour and fly puree will be offered to the Russians as food. Russian State Duma deputy Alexei Zhuravlev demanded “a humane attitude towards all residents of the country without exception, each of whom, I am sure, has the right to at least normal food.”
