Pseudoplague of birds, observed in the UK, can also be recorded in humans, said the head of the Yekaterinburg Research Institute of Viral Infections of the Federal Budgetary Institution of State Research Center of VB “Vector” of Rospotrebnadzor, Doctor of Biological Sciences Alexander Semyonov.

Semyonov noted that even if there is the possibility of transmission to humans, the disease passes easily and does not indicate a danger to life and health. According to him, poultry workers who come into contact with sick birds sometimes become infected with the virus.
According to the expert, the symptoms of the Newcastle virus resemble those that are recorded in respiratory diseases.
In the poultry industry, the virus is considered a highly dangerous quarantine infection, the damage to the global poultry industry from it is comparable only to highly pathogenic avian influenza, with a mortality rate of about 30%.
