Rospotrebnadzor on the upcoming International Bat Night told about diseases and infections transmitted from them.
Bats belong to the order Chiroptera. They are unevenly distributed over the territory of our country, represented by 50 species.
Most representatives of the chiroptera order are hosts for more than a thousand species of ticks and 700 species of insects. They are also a natural reservoir of pathogens for many viral, bacterial infections, including those dangerous to humans. Infection can occur through domestic animals that eat representatives of bats.
Bats are wild animals and contact with them should be avoided whenever possible, the agency warns. If the animal has got into the room, it should never be caught and taken with bare hands.
At the same time, many species of bats living on the territory of the Russian Federation are listed in the Red Book, which should be remembered by those in contact with these unique representatives of the fauna.
On the last weekend of August, the world celebrates one of the most unusual environmental holidays – the Night of the Bats. The main goal is to draw attention to the problems of bats and their protection.
