The wave of influenza A cases in Russia may begin to decline within three weeks. Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor, spoke about this on Tuesday, January 16.

According to the chief sanitary doctor of the Russian Federation, the corresponding forecast is given by Rospotrebnadzor experts.

At the same time, Popova clarified on the Rossiya 1 TV channel that the current increase in the incidence of influenza and ARVI is quite predictable and is explained by the fact that during the New Year holidays, Russians less often turned to doctors, preferring self-medication.

As a result, “the decrease in the numbers that we observed in the first week was registered, but it was not true,” noted the head of Rospotrebnadzor.

Previously, molecular biologist, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Konstantin Severinov said, what is “disease X”which some scientists consider even more dangerous than the coronavirus.

At the same time, experts recalled the need to comply with COVID-19 prevention measures, emphasizing that the main and most effective type of protection against respiratory viral diseases vaccination still remains.
