In Dagestan, a tense but controlled situation with measles has developed. This assessment was presented by the head of the department of Rospotrebnadzor in the republic, Zalimkhan Omariyev. He explained the increase in the incidence of measles in Dagestan by the refusal of residents to be vaccinated. The day before, April 22, in the department declared about 188 laboratory-confirmed cases of measles in the republic.
“Today, I would characterize the epidemiological situation for measles in the republic as tense, but controlled. In fact, it’s not even about the number of cases of the disease, although this is an important characteristic, namely that people in the course of anti-epidemic measures often do not make contact and refuse to be vaccinated, ”said Mr. Omariyev (quoted by RIA Novosti ).
According to Zalimkhan Omariyev, outbreaks of infection in organized groups – kindergartens, schools, boarding schools, medical institutions – were prevented. “This is perhaps the most significant characteristic of the epidemic process, which allows us to say that the epidemiological situation is under control,” he added.
On April 3, vaccination of those not vaccinated against measles began in Dagestan. April 7 department reported about the outbreaks of the disease in schools and kindergartens. In some of them, for 21 days (the maximum incubation period), the admission of unvaccinated children was suspended.
Cases of measles were recorded in 44 regions. According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, despite the worsening epidemiological situation, local foci of the disease can be “very quickly stopped.” The need for systemic restrictions Rospotrebnadzor does not see.
