20 regions of Russia are lagging behind in the field of forestry. Among them are Yakutia, Buryatia, Chukotka, Crimea, Chechnya and 15 other regions. About it informed department press office. The head of Rosleskhoz, Ivan Sovetnikov, called on the heads of these regions to strengthen control over the work of regional bodies authorized in the field of forest relations.
“The heads of lagging regions, there are about 20 of them, should pay close attention to the current state of affairs in the direction entrusted to them and reconsider approaches in the work of regional forest departments. Ignoring the results of the rating is unacceptable, in fact, the last places in it are a failure to fulfill direct duties. In order to qualitatively change the situation, we suggest that the regions at the bottom of the rating, together with Rosleskhoz specialists, develop a “road map” with specific measures aimed at improving the efficiency of the forestry sector of their subject,” the press service quoted the head of Rosleskhoz as saying.
The rating of regions is based on 36 criteria. They are divided into seven groups: ensuring protection, protection, reforestation, reforestation, forest fire season and economic activity.
