Progress MS-24 transport cargo spacecraft has successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS). About it reported in the press service of Roskosmos.
“Today at 06:45:18 Moscow time, the truck docked automatically to the Zvezda service module of the Russian segment,” the statement said.
The carrier rocket with Progress MS-24 was launched on August 23 from Baikonur. The cargo ship delivered 2495 kg of cargo to the ISS.
On August 24, the ISS orbit was adjustedto avoid collision with space debris. The state corporation clarified that the Zvezda engines were turned on approximately at 18:00 Moscow time. After working for 21.5 seconds, the orbital height was reduced by 500 m. Roscosmos emphasized that this correction will not affect docking with Progress MS-24.
The ISS was put into orbit in 1998. Astronauts from different countries work on the station, including Russia, the USA, Japan, Canada, Germany, etc. They carry out experiments that would not be possible on Earth, such as space exploration, research in the field of biology , physiology, etc. In mid-March, Roskosmos reported that during the entire flight of the station, 336 corrections were made to the height of its orbit (of which 34 were to avoid space debris).
