Roskomnadzor restored access to the website of the Center for the Protection of Media Rights (included in the register of foreign agents) after deleting the material about the suit of the director of the Caucasian Reserve against The Insider (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent and undesirable organization). The site was blocked by Roskomnadzor on the evening of October 16th.
“We reported the deletion to the department last night, today at about 9 am, the RKN notified us about the deletion of the entry from the register of blocked sites. A few hours later, the resource became available again, ”the Center for the Protection of Media Rights says in a Telegram message.
Yesterday, October 16, at the request of the central department of bailiffs of Sochi dated May 2020, Roskomnadzor accepted the decision to block the website of the Center for the Protection of Media Rights. According to representatives of the organization, the restriction of access was introduced because of the news about the lawsuit filed by the director of the Caucasus Reserve against The Insider, in which the lawyer of the Center represented the interests of the journalists of the publication. Earlier, The Insider published material about poaching in the reserve.
The Media Rights Defense Center is a non-profit organization founded in 1996. It provides legal assistance to journalists, bloggers and photographers.
