Roskomnadzor suggested that the book industry itself remove books with LGBT propaganda

Roskomnadzor appealed to the Russian Book Union (RKS) with a proposal to remove books containing propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations from sale, TASS reports. RCC confirmed the receipt of the letter to RIA Novosti, noting that work on it is already underway.
According to Roskomnadzor, the promotion of any deviant relationship is contrary to the traditional values of Russian society and is dangerous not only for minors, but for the whole society.
“In order to prevent further popularization of non-traditional sexual relations in Russia, it is necessary to make appropriate changes to the legislation. Previously, the draft of such changes was discussed at a meeting of the Public Council under Roskomnadzor and was submitted to the deputies, ”the department said, noting that at the moment the bill has been submitted to the State Duma. The initiative to exclude the distribution of books with LGBT propaganda was also supported by the ROC.
Note that currently in Russia there is a law prohibiting the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations among minors. In June of this year to the State Duma entered bill to increase fines for LGBT propaganda. The authors of the document insist that responsibility should come for LGBT propaganda among people of any age, and not just among minors.
In the summer of 2022, a scandal erupted around the bestseller by Katerina Silvanova and Elena Malisova “Summer in a Pioneer Tie”. Roman was accused of promoting same-sex relationships among teenagers. However, Roskomnadzor stated that during the audit it did not find any violations in the distribution of a book that tells about the relationship between a pioneer and a leader. The department explained that the book is marked “18+”, that is, it is classified as a product prohibited for children. Its circulation does not violate the law “On the protection of children from information that is harmful to their health and development.” Nevertheless, they said they share the concerns of parents about the content of the novel and are ready to support tougher legislation that would protect minors from such books.
