Roskomnadzor asked Scratch to leave only male and female during registration

In response to earlier information that the Scratch educational service offers users gender selection options at the registration stage, including those that do not correspond to Russian traditional values, Roskomnadzor turned to the service administration with a request to change the user registration system regarding gender.
The department noted that the administration of the Scratch Internet service was notified of the need to change the data set that is collected during the registration of Russian users. The RKN asks the administration of the service to leave only two gender options – male and female.
In addition, as noted in the department, representatives of Scratch were notified of the redundancy of the data being collected, since in Russia men and women have equal rights, including education.
It is noted that Scratch is a visual event-driven programming environment created for children and teenagers. Its developer is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab.
