Rosfinmonitoring introduced sociologist Boris Kagarlitsky (recognized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) in list citizens involved in extremist activities or terrorism. Now Boris Kagarlitsky is under arrest in a criminal case on the justification of terrorism.
The reasons for including the sociologist in the register of terrorists and extremists are not specified. He is included in the list along with 11 other citizens who are defendants in criminal cases under extremist and terrorist articles.
A criminal case against Boris Kagarlitsky was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public justification of terrorism committed using information and communication networks, including the Internet). The reason was a video posted on YouTube in October 2022 about an explosion on the Crimean bridge.
July 26 Syktyvkar City Court arrested Boris Kagarlitsky for two months. The sociologist pleaded not guilty and stated that his post was not an excuse for terrorism, but an attempt to analyze the causes and circumstances of what happened.
Boris Kagarlitsky is a Russian sociologist and political scientist, candidate of political sciences, editor-in-chief of the Rabkor online publication and author of the YouTube channel of the same name.
