The Russian state corporation Roscosmos has agreed with NASA an additional flight of an American astronaut on the Russian spacecraft Soyuz MS. Sergey Krikalev, executive director of Roscosmos for manned programs, spoke about this.

“One of the Americans actually stayed for two terms on the ISS. And in order to compensate for the time spent at the station, they added one flight. This is a mutually beneficial business, we interact with each other and are looking for the best option,” said Mr. Krikalev “Interfax”.

He called the exchange of flights with the American side “a good story.” In his opinion, this “adds reliability to our space program.”

Last year, Roskosmos and NASA signed an agreement on cross-flights of three cosmonauts from the Russian Federation on American manned spacecraft Crew Dragon and three US astronauts on Russian Soyuz MS in 2022-2024. Later, the agreement was expanded, Roskosmos will receive official approval from the Russian government for this.

Formerly at NASA reportedthat they are going to continue cooperation with Russia in the space sector, despite Western sanctions and a military conflict. NASA also refused to reduce the number of employees of its Russian office.
