In 2022, Roskomnadzor received almost 20% more than a year earlier, applications from copyright holders for copyright protection, the department’s service said in a statement.
“Foreign and Russian copyright holders have begun to turn to Roskomnadzor more often to protect their rights. Compared to 2021, the number of applications increased by 18%, and preliminary interim measures were taken against almost 350,000 sites with pirated content,” the agency noted (quote by Interfax).
The press service also noted that last year 12,500 rulings of the Moscow City Court and 38,000 applications from copyright holders for copyright protection on the Internet were received.
Roskomnadzor previously reported that 11,900 fraudulent websites were removed or blocked in 2022. The department noted that such platforms are created mainly for the purpose of stealing money or personal data of users. In most cases, scammers use sites that pretend to be the official sites of large financial organizations or online stores, Roskomnadzor added.
