[ad_1]
Today, the Finnish telecommunications company Nokia and the South Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of patents for technologies of fifth generation mobile networks (5G). As part of this agreement, Samsung will use Nokia technologies in its 5G smartphones, which will receive royalties from the South Korean company for this.
The current agreement was signed for several years ahead, the exact terms and amounts of payment were not disclosed. The companies have already collaborated in this area – the previous cross-licensing agreement between Nokia and Samsung expired on December 31, 2022. Nokia has one of the world’s largest 5G patent portfolios, with approximately 4,500 such patents.
In turn, Samsung became the first company in the world to launch a smartphone for fifth-generation networks – it was the Galaxy S20, introduced back in March 2020. Now the South Korean company is one of the world leaders in the sale of smartphones with 5G.
