RIA Novosti: a descendant of Catherine II and Potemkin decided to settle in Crimea

RIA Novosti reports that a direct descendant of Empress Catherine II and Prince Grigory Potemkin was planning to obtain Russian citizenship and settle in Russia. With reference to Deputy Prime Minister of the regional government Georgiy Muradov, the agency clarifies that we are talking about Andrei Kalageorgi.
“His plans are to settle in Crimea,” Muradov said. “Which is very symbolic and indicative.”
RIA Novosti emphasizes that Catherine II in April 1783 signed the highest manifesto “on the acceptance of the Crimean Peninsula, Taman Island and the entire Kuban side under the Russian power.” Potemkin led the annexation of the peninsula to the empire.
