Review of the 14th round of the Russian Football Championship
[ad_1]
In the final match of the 14th round of the Russian Championship, Dynamo was unable to beat Sochi, although it led 3:1. The meeting ended in a draw 3:3. Thus, Dynamo missed the opportunity to rise to third place and are in fifth place with 22 points.
At the end of the 14th round, the match between Sochi and Dynamo was of greatest interest. Despite the fact that one team was in last place, and the other was aiming for the top three in the championship, in their confrontation initially everything was not as clear as it might seem. The Muscovites, of course, entered the field of the Fisht stadium as favorites. However, the Black Sea team has recently begun to show signs of life – they defeated Ural, defeated the now hot Fakel in the Russian Cup, making it to the quarterfinals of the Path of Regions. And in the previous round of the championship they should have taken points from Pari Nizhny Novgorod, but missed two penalties.
And besides, Sochi is traditionally an inconvenient opponent for Dynamo, because previously in eight official matches with the capital club, it won five wins, one draw and two defeats. Moreover, the blue and white have not won since September 2021.
On top of that, Dynamo had personnel problems in the center of defense, and their coach Marcel Licka had to pair full-back Sergei Parshivlyuk with Roberto Fernandez. At the same time, the Sochi team had the rather textured Luka Djordjevic in front, who had a height advantage over Parshivlyuk. In the first minutes, the Montenegrin striker took part in two dangerous episodes near the visitors’ goal. First, he made a good pass to Martin Kramaric, but the Slovenian only cut the air with his foot, and then he himself did not close the discount from Vanja Drkusic on the set piece.
However, in the middle of the first half, Djordjevic still took advantage of the inattention of his guards. Goalkeeper Igor Leshchuk still managed to parry his shot, but Nikita Burmistrov finished the ball into an empty net. But the Black Sea team were not blameless in defense, and they made a mistake immediately after scoring a goal, when the coaches especially require them to maintain concentration. Dmitry Skopintsev burst into the penalty area from the left and passed it a little back to Fedor Smolov, who gave up the right to complete the combination to Luis Chavez, who was not being held by anyone at all.
“Sochi” stoically endured this opportunity, and the same Djordjevic earned a penalty in the fight against Eli Dasa. He was entrusted with taking the penalty kick, but Alexander Tochilin’s team simply had some trouble with the implementation of such kicks. Djordjevic also faltered and was unable to beat Leshchuk.
Meanwhile, the third consecutive miss from the point seemed to have somewhat demoralized the Sochi team. They didn’t even last until the break and managed to concede two goals within two minutes, when Konstantin Tyukavin very easily dealt with Marcelo Alves one-on-one, and Yaroslav Gladyshev took advantage of the passivity of another central defender, Ivan Miladinovic. One could only feel sorry for Sochi goalkeeper Nikolai Zabolotny in those moments.
The hosts could reduce the difference to a minimum before leaving for the locker room. Burmistrov, it seems, did everything for Kramaric – just score, but he shot just as artlessly as Djordjevic did from the penalty spot.
And yet, Sochi returned to the game in the second half, showing that the team has moral and strong-willed qualities. Somewhere, of course, Dynamo lost some slack, especially since they still systematically threatened Zabolotny’s goal and, apparently, no longer doubted victory. But Djordjevic snatched his goal, rushing to finish after Leshchuk had difficulty parrying Kramaric’s shot. And then Drkusic scored from a corner and saved the Black Sea team from defeat.
Although in the remaining time they could easily snatch all three points. Kramaric had two great chances, but in the first case, Leschuk kicked a difficult ball, and in the second, the Slovenian hit the crossbar with a free kick. Sochi played such a crazy match that even the usually cool-headed Tochilin lost his nerves. So the hosts finished without the head coach removed from the bench. They also received a red card from Marcelo Alves, but this had no effect on the result. As a result, a 3:3 draw did not allow the Sochi team to leave 16th place, and the Dynamo team to rise to third.
