Revealing AI Algorithms Could Increase Search Engine Manipulation
[ad_1]
Disclosure of recommendation algorithms by Internet services is fraught with abuse by unscrupulous suppliers of goods and services. They can use the information they receive to artificially inflate product ratings and manipulate user preferences. Such risks are discussed in the “Ethical Guidelines for the Use of AI Algorithms in the Operation of Digital Services.” The document was prepared by the Alliance in the field of artificial intelligence, which includes Yandex, VK, Sber, Gazprom Neft, RDIF, Samolet, Uralchem, Rusagro, Sibur, Severstal and other large companies. The development of recommendations was confirmed by representatives of two companies participating in the alliance.
Recommendation algorithms (including so-called search engine wizards) allow an online service to change the list and order of data provided to the user in response to his request.
