Chinese President Xi Jinping did not come to dinner with the leaders of 11 states, including the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Samarkand, due to the Chinese delegation’s policy on coronavirus, Reuters reported.

This is reported by Western media, citing a source in the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan. The Chinese leader did not appear in group photos of the SCO summit either.

Earlier Thursday, Putin and Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the SCO. The last time they met in person was during the visit of the Russian President to Beijing for the opening of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko also took part in the summit. This year, Minsk applied to join the SCO as a full member.
