US to allocate another $600 million military aid package to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden ordered Ukraine to receive an additional $600 million in military assistance, the corresponding memorandum published on the White House website.

In his document, Biden delegated to the Secretary of State the authority to allocate up to $600 million for “defense products and services of the Department of Defense, as well as for the education and training of the military necessary to assist Ukraine.”

At the Pentagon clarifiedthat the new assistance package will include additional ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS, about 36,000 105 mm artillery shells, 1,000 precision-guided 155 mm artillery ammunition, 4 anti-artillery radars, four trucks and eight trailers for transporting heavy equipment, Claymore anti-personnel mines, night vision devices visions, small arms and ammunition.

In total, since February 24, the United States has provided Ukraine with $15.1 billion in state security assistance, the Pentagon added.

On September 8, US President Joe Biden approved a new $675 million military aid package for Kyiv. It included ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS, four 105mm howitzers, and 36,000 shells for it. In addition, the US State Department informed Congress about plans to allocate another $2 billion in military assistance to Ukraine and neighboring countries. It is specified that $1 billion will go to strengthening the security of Ukraine, and another $1 billion will be transferred to neighbors.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Kyiv continues to insist on the supply of ATACMS long-range ballistic missiles from the United States, but Washington is still not going do so for fear of escalating the conflict, CNN reported. On the eve of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that if the United States decides to supply Ukraine with longer-range missiles, then they will pass red line and become a direct party to the conflict.
