In the fifth round of the Chess Cup of the head of Yakutia, the young two-time champion of the republic Denis Nazarov defeated the famous chess player from Khabarovsk – FIDE master Oleg Rychkov, a multiple champion of the Far East. Nazarov took third place in the ranking, remaining the only Yakutian in the top five.

Another match in which chess players from Yakutia participated was between the white players Arseny Chumaevsky and Aiyyn Egorova. Egorova, an experienced two-time schoolgirl world champion, used the Dutch defense. However, after several inaccuracies on the 17th move, she admitted defeat, allowing her opponent to improve his position in the tournament.
As a result, grandmaster Dmitry Kokarev from the Sverdlovsk region took first place, Dmitry Kryakvin from the Republic of Crimea took second place. Yakut resident Denis Nazarov was in third place. Grandmaster Anton Shomoev takes fourth place, and Alexey Grebnev from the Samara region takes fifth place.
