The restrictions on the length of stay of migrants in Russia developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs will not apply to those who have received a residence permit (RP). This was reported by official representative of the ministry Irina Volk. According to her, the project proposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs provides for a number of exceptions.
“This temporary stay regime ceases to apply if a foreign citizen receives a residence permit, temporary residence permit, work permit, patent, or is provided with an employment contract confirming the extension of his temporary stay in Russia,” Ms. Volk wrote in her Telegram-channel.
Designed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs bill if adopted, it will limit the ability of foreigners to stay in the country without a visa to 90 days during the calendar year. According to current legislation, this period is 90 days in total during each period of 180 days. That is, a person can live 90 days in Russia, leave it for 90 days, and then return after that.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, instructed “fundamentally update” approaches to migration policy. According to him, in the conditions of illegal migration there is “an ideological pumping of various kinds of false preachers.” This, added president, leads to the spread of extremism.
