Residents of Zelenogradsk near Kaliningrad began collecting signatures in defense of the cat Sergei, who “worked” in the store for three years and became a favorite of employees and tourists, who was recently “fired” due to a complaint to Rospotrebnadzor. Store director Tatyana Gorbunova spoke about this.
According to her, local residents left over 500 signatures in defense of the cat and continue to come. Gorbunova claims the store knows where to send them, but they probably won’t do it because they can’t change the laws. The store director emphasized that, in accordance with the decree of the chief sanitary doctor, keeping birds and animals in commercial premises is unacceptable. She noted that this was known, and the store took risks, but if Rospotrebnadzor issued a decision, it should be followed.
Gorbunova added that this is the first time an official complaint has been received by Rospotrebnadzor, and everyone in the store is very sad. She clarified that the store employees took the cat to a good home.
