President Vladimir Putin told journalists about the launch of a website dedicated to Russian protected areas. The launch of the site coincides with the celebration of the Day of Nature Reserves and National Parks on January 11.
“This is an opportunity for people who are interested in nature to get to know their work. Naturally, a lot of people will be interested not only in the animals that live there, but also in the work of these protected areas themselves,” Vladimir Putin told reporters. According to the president, 13% of Russia’s territory is under state protection.
Website “Wildlife of Russia” started working on the portal kremlin.ru. On the site, a network user can find out the latest news about the work of existing reserves in Russia and read about the animals living in their territories. In addition, recordings from camera traps installed in protected areas and materials from scientists are available on the site.
