Residents of Odessa opposed the renaming of Leo Tolstoy Square

Odessa residents voted against renaming the square named after the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy as part of decommunization. The local publication Dumskaya writes about this.
“Odessa residents do not want to rename Leo Tolstoy Square to Mendele Moikher-Sforim Square,” the publication reports on its Telegram channel, citing the results of the latest vote to change the names of streets.
It is known that a total of 359 residents took part in the voting, of which 158 were in favor of the initiative, and 201 did not support it.
The dismantling of Soviet historical monuments and renaming of streets began in Ukraine in 2015, when the so-called decommunization law came into force. At the moment, the Ukrainian authorities are fighting not only against Soviet history, but also against everything that relates to Russia.
