Residents of Makhachkala blocked the road due to lack of electricity – Kommersant

Residents of the northern part of Makhachkala blocked roads on Gamidov and Akushinsky avenues due to a prolonged power outage, a correspondent reported RBC. Ministry of Energy of Dagestan statedthat power supply for the village of Separatorov and Gamidov Street will be restored within 2-3 hours.

According to RBC, city residents who came out to protest lived without electricity and heating devices for several days. Videos published by the publication on the Telegram channel show that car traffic is difficult on one of the avenues due to the large number of protesters and law enforcement officers.

“The prolonged disconnection of consumers, according to power engineers, is due to the fact that specialists for a long time could not find the location of the damage to the power line,” says the press service of the regional Ministry of Energy.

TV channel “Dagestan” reported that the blackout in the region was due to strong winds and rain. According to the TV channel, weather conditions have worsened in Makhachkala, Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk, as well as in the Magaramkent, Derbent, Karabudakhkent, Kizlyar and Babayurt regions of Dagestan.

On the morning of December 13, at the branch of PJSC Rosseti Northern Caucasus – Dagenergo – reported, that due to worsening weather, power engineers were transferred to a special operating mode. Later at Dagenergo statedthat by 16:00 Moscow time, power engineers had restored power to about 60% of consumers.

Similar power outages and related protests occurred in Dagestan in August of this year. According to Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Evgeniy Grabchak, then the power outages in the republic were associated with underinvestment in the region’s power grid complex due to non-payments.
