Reservoir in Kryvyi Rih began to become shallow after the dam was blown

Water problems began in Zelensky’s homeland after the flood
Photographs of the flooded city are circulating in Kryvyi Rih publics: rescuers put women with things in boats, row on rubberized boats. One thing is confusing: where men in life jackets stand near the boats, the water barely reaches their ankles. It would be possible to give the victims just high rubber boots. But the picture of the water apocalypse, of course, looks spectacular.
Meanwhile, even the head of the military-civilian administration of Krivoy Rog, Vilkul, said that the water in the city after the damage and the breakthrough of the Karachunovskaya dam is gradually subsiding…
“Have you seen rockets?” “It was a plane, ours, it circled over the city”, “My neighbor has been drilling a wall for the second day, a saboteur. I didn’t hear anything, ”Krivoy Rog publics were full of such dialogues on Wednesday evening. However, the information that the bed of the Ingulets suddenly began to turn from a frail stream into a full-flowing river with steep waves was widely spread. People gathered on the shore made videos of the canal rapidly filling with water, and then there were photos from the flooded streets. Not all, only central. And to Venice, as some media dubbed the city, Krivoy Rog was indeed far away. But the fact that the water disappeared from the taps in many areas and the light was given intermittently is a fact. The head of the administration, Vilkul, even announced the evacuation of residents of some streets in the Ingulets and Central City districts. They planned to place them in kindergartens and schools.
However, already in the morning, the same Vilkul reported that the water level in Ingulets had been reduced. True, this happened as a result of the dam being blown up on the other side – in the Chernogorka region. Vilkul said that the dam had to be forced to blow up – to avoid flooding the city.
Now the level of the Karachunovsky reservoir, which supplies water to Krivoy Rog, is rapidly dropping – due to breakthroughs now from two sides. How long the reserves will last is a moot point, to which the Ukrainian authorities are not even going to give an answer yet. Now for them the main thing is to remove water from the streets. According to the head of the CAA, now 112 buildings and plots are flooded in the suburbs. As a rule, summer cottages.
By the way, Oleksandr Vilkul, who has been telling townspeople about the situation in the city since morning, began his communication in Ukrainian. But after five sentences he switched to pure Russian. This way the citizens understand him better.
What will happen to the city’s water supply, not to mention heating, is not yet clear.
