Republicans in the US House of Representatives have chosen Trump protege Jim Jordan as their candidate for the role of speaker of the lower house.

The Hill newspaper reported this.

Jordan is known for being one of the initiators of the investigation into the activities of the Biden family and alleged cases of bribery from foreign companies when Biden was vice president.

Earlier it was reported that representatives of the Republican Party in the US House of Representatives are calling for the appointment of the former president of the country and candidate for this post, Donald Trump, as the new speaker. At the same time, as noted, Trump himself is aware of the initiative and is actively discussing it. According to him, he has already been contacted on this issue, but he intends to do everything “that is best for the country and the Republican Party.”

At the same time, Trump noted that he is completely focused on becoming president, and added that there are other “wonderful people” in the Republican Party who could handle the job of Speaker of the House of Representatives. However, Trump is reportedly “interested in this work.”

Earlier, Speaker Kevin McCarthy was removed from the US House of Representatives. It is known that 216 congressmen voted for his resignation, and 210 did not support his dismissal. Patrick McHenry took over this position on an interim basis.

The initiative to fire McCarthy was put forward by Republican Matt Gaetz. He was not satisfied that a fellow party member wanted to reach a compromise with the Democrats, achieving government funding before November 17 in order to avoid a shutdown. In addition, according to him, McCarthy allegedly agreed with the owner of the White House, Joe Biden, on further steps to sponsor the Kyiv regime.
