Russia and the CIS countries signed an agreement on the creation of the International Organization for the Russian Language (MORYA). Its task will be to support the spread of language to bring peoples closer together, reported Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk.
“It is no coincidence that the CIS member states acted as the founders of the new international organization, because for our countries the Russian language is of particular value. This is our common language, bringing our peoples closer and strengthening our ties,” the deputy prime minister emphasized.
He noted that the initiative to create the SEA was taken by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. According to him, the new international organization will support the use of the Russian language in the world in all possible forms – in communication, writing, reading, as well as in the audiovisual environment. The organization’s headquarters will be located in Sochi.
The leaders of the CIS countries signed an agreement on the establishment of a new international structure at a meeting in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. The summit was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
