Republic of Altai: overhaul of schools will come to the villages and cities of the region

In the Altai Republic, in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Government of the region, in February 2022, a separate regional project “Modernization of school education systems in the Altai Republic” was approved, in accordance with which a major overhaul was started in school No. 5 this spring and No. 10 of the city of Gorno-Altaisk, in the Kastakhta school of the Ust-Koksinsky district and in the Kyzyl-Ozek school of the Maiminsky district.

Repair work in three schools was completed by the beginning of the school year, in the school in the village of Kyzyl-Ozek they will end in the summer of 2023.

The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Altai Olga Savrasova, during a live broadcast about the implementation of major repairs in schools, said that the program will not be limited to repair work, it implies a large-scale transformation of schools.

“The renovated schools will be equipped with modern equipment and means of education and upbringing, in addition, the material and technical base will be updated and all requirements for anti-terrorist security will be provided, the book and educational fund will be updated, pedagogical and administrative workers will be retrained,” she said.

In the village of Kyzyl-Ozek, the overhaul of the school is planned for the period from 2022 to 2023. The educational organization will repair the roof, doors, windows, walls and ceilings. The heating, ventilation, sewerage, water supply systems, fire extinguishing system will be replaced.

Tatyana Selishcheva, the mother of second and fourth grade students, noted that she was very glad that she could take part in the improvement of the school, contribute her ideas and projects for organizing the school’s recreational areas, its landscaping, and creating the subject-aesthetic environment of school corners.

“The school yard is the visiting card of the school, and we would like the aesthetic appearance to be combined with comfort and to be as functional as possible. It is good that parents have the opportunity to participate in the design of school classrooms, where a comfortable modern interior, I think, will meet all sanitary and hygienic standards,” she said.

In addition, in the Kyzyl-Ozek school and in school No. 10 of the city of Gorno-Altaisk, the appearance of sports halls will change.

In the Kastakhta school of the Ust-Koksinsky district, comfortable conditions for learning were created and modern equipment was supplied. During the overhaul, all engineering communications, interior and exterior decoration were replaced, the facade and entrance group were repaired and insulated, door and window blocks were replaced. The principal of the school, Vasily Irkitov, said that the school needed a major overhaul, as it was built back in 1971.

“Our school is small. We have children from the villages of Kastakhta and Kuruda. The building did not quite correspond to modern conditions and requirements of education. After a major overhaul, children study in comfortable conditions, which will positively affect not only the health of children, but also their academic performance,” he stressed.

Olga Safronova, head of the administration of the city of Gorno-Altaisk, said that the Government of the Russian Federation had set the task of bringing all Russian schools into line with modern requirements within five years. A lot of work has been done to get Gorno-Altaisk into the federal capital repair program in 2022. Thanks to this, two city schools at once – elementary school No. 5 and secondary school No. 10 – became participants in it.

At these facilities, work was carried out on plastering and painting walls, repairing electrics, bathrooms, replacing fire alarms and floors, and creating an accessible environment inside and on the school grounds. In addition, in schools No. 10 and No. 5 of the city of Gorno-Altaisk and in the Kyzyl-Ozek school, a major overhaul of catering units was carried out, and new equipment was purchased.

The progress of repair work in each school, in addition to the administrations of educational institutions, is controlled by the operational headquarters, curators from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Altai Republic, municipal education authorities, as well as representatives of the parent community.

Previously, parent-teacher meetings were held in each school, parents, teachers and students took part in the discussion of design projects for the renovated spaces.

We remind you that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to involve the teaching and parent community, as well as students, in discussing issues related to the repair of schools, even at the stage of project development.

Thus, the administration of the Kyzyl-Ozek school developed the provisions of the competitions for “The best design project of the school office”, “The best school recreation” and “Landscape design of the school territory”. To organize and conduct competitions, an organizing committee and a jury were formed, consisting of the school director, deputy director for educational work, the chairman and members of the school’s parent council, the chairman of the labor collective and schoolchildren. As a result, the best works in the areas were identified.

Similar competitions were held in schools in the city of Gorno-Altaisk and in the Kastakhta school of the Ust-Koksinsky district.

In addition, we note that the Ministry of Education and Science of the Altai Republic held individual workshops with the heads of all municipalities on the preparation of major repairs in educational institutions of the Altai Republic for the periods 2022-2023 and 2024-2026, a register of buildings of educational institutions requiring major repairs was compiled for the period 2022–2026.
