Minimizing expenses, preserving the environment… There are plenty of reasons to opt for a second-hand product rather than a new one. The market for refurbished smartphones symbolizes consumers’ appetite for these second-hand phones. It represents nearly one in five telephone sales in France, i.e. 2.8 million devices sold in 2021. But there is a specificity. To be entitled to the refurbished mention, the device in question must meet certain very specific criteria. Customers expect these phones to be checked and in working order. That is not always the case.
