In Russia, a record number of retired criminals was revealed over the past 10 years
For the first time since 2013, the proportion of citizens over 50 who were convicted of crimes exceeded 10% of the total number of citizens who received convictions. Such statistics for the past year were provided by the Supreme Court, writes RBC.
It is specified that 578,751 people were convicted in the report on the composition of the convicts and the crime scene for 2021, of which 61,655 citizens are people over 50 years old, which is 10.65%. This is a record figure in the last 10 years, when the number of older offenders exceeded 10%.
It is noted that, according to statistics, from 2013 to 2016 inclusive, the number of criminals over 50 years old was at the level of 8-8.5%, and from 2017 to 2021 it increased from 9.1% to 9.9%.
It is noted that of the total number of criminals over 50 years old, 31.2% (19,286 people) are pensioners, men over 60 years old – 13,341 people. Among those convicted of crimes there are also women over 55 years of age – 5945.
