RMTV, Real Madrid’s club television, released a story after the match entirely dedicated to the refereeing performed by referee Alberola Rojas. And this was a special story: in football it is rare to attack a referee so violently. RMTV rated Rojas’s work as “terrible”, “disgusting” and “vomit-inducing”, finding several “crucial” errors. The first is related to the goal with which Alvaro Morata opened the scoring. According to Real Madrid experts, Rojas was obliged to cancel it after watching the episode with the help of VAR, due to the violation that had occurred before him on the visiting midfielder Jude Bellingham. But they saw no reason not to record Eduardo Camavinga’s goal, which was canceled by the referee, calling Antonio Rudiger’s offside “non-existent” because Camavinga’s partner “did not interfere with the game.” RMTV was also indignant about how it was possible not to send off Jose Maria Jimenez for a flagrant foul and not award a penalty for hitting the ball in the hand of Mario Hermoso inside the penalty area.
The Real Madrid TV channel did not stop at stating the unprofessionalism of Alberola Rojas, allowing itself a hint that was fattening and fraught with retaliatory accusations. He pointed out that Rojas is one of those arbitrators who “used the services” of José Maria Henriques Negreira. Negreira, the former vice-president of the refereeing committee of the Spanish Football Federation, is, as is known, the central character in the main Spanish football scandal of this year. The investigation found that for quite a long period of time he provided Barcelona with what Real Madrid’s number one enemy and the referee himself called ordinary “consulting services”, but which, according to some representatives of the football community, was much more like a corruption scheme . Threats to severely punish the Catalans for this kind of interaction, for example, by expulsion from European competitions, did not come true, however, as it turned out, Real are not going to forget about it.
However, other media resources paid much less attention to Alberola Rojas’ decisions. But a lot of it went to some other nuances. For example, the frank admission after the match by Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, who spoke about the terrible lack of concentration among his players, that all three Atlético goals – two by Alvaro Morata and one by Antoine Griezmann – were scored as if they were carbon copies: a cross the central zone, and there no one has time to cover the dangerous football player. And also the strategies of Ancelotti himself. In the match with Atlético, for some reason he considered it necessary to saturate the midfield to the maximum, sending as many as five midfielders onto the field and leaving forward Joselu, who was quite effective in September, on the bench until the second half. As a result, Real almost doubled the derby hosts in terms of ball possession (64% to 36%), exactly twice as many shots on goal (20 to 10), but the winning team, which was just accelerating into the season with a creak, looked much sharper.
This misfire dropped Real from the top of the standings straight to third position. Although, of course, his gap from the leaders is purely symbolic, just a point. The leaders were Barcelona and, oddly enough, Girona, which was apparently experiencing its short finest hour.

Arsen Zakharyan infected with coronavirus
Russian midfielder of the Real Sociedad football club Arsen Zakharyan has contracted the coronavirus, the press service of the Spanish team reported. In early September it became known that Zakharyan fell ill. A few days later, the footballer resumed training and came on as a substitute in the match of the fifth round of the Spanish Championship with Real Madrid. After that, he stopped going on the field again.
“Arsene is recovering from COVID and we hope that he will return to work with the team in the coming days,” the club said.
Previously, Zakharyan, who moved to Real Sociedad in mid-August, took part in three matches of the Spanish championship, in which he did not score any effective actions.
Arsen Zakharyan is a graduate of Dynamo Moscow. He has played for the first team since 2020. The midfielder made his debut for the Russian national team in 2021 and played seven matches for the national team.
