Reading aloud championship starts for schoolchildren

The All-Russian Literary and Historical Club invites high school students and students of secondary vocational educational institutions to the championship in reading aloud in Russian “Page 23”.
Qualifying competitions will be held in all regions of the country in libraries and reading rooms. The championship will be held in several rounds: in the first round, participants will read works of Russian classical prose, in the second – poetry, and in the third – modern Russian prose. The peculiarity of the championship is that the guys will read the texts without prior preparation, that is, as they say, from a sheet.
According to the results of the competition in each region, first three finalists will be selected, and then one finalist each. The guys will be assessed by experts from the International Reading Federation, and the assessment of performances will be based on a 6-point scale according to two criteria: technique (the unmistakable sound of texts) and artistry (emotionality, getting into the mood of a fragment). The finalists from the regions will take part in the super final, which will be held in autumn 2023 in Moscow on Red Square.
It is expected that following the results of the championship, more than 3,000 videos will be created to popularize reading and expand the reader’s horizons of schoolchildren.
