RBC: Ministry of Finance plans to reduce the number of state institutions

The Ministry of Finance plans to prepare proposals to reduce the number of federal state institutions (FKU) subordinate to the federal executive authorities, writes RBC with reference to the ministry’s report. The Ministry of Finance expects that the reduction in the number of financial institutions will increase the salaries of their employees.
PKU are, in particular, military units and military commissariats, institutions for the execution of sentences and pre-trial detention centers, special institutions for the social rehabilitation of minors, institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The press service of the Ministry of Finance confirmed to RBC that the Russian government is currently “working to optimize the network of state institutions subordinate to the federal executive authorities. It follows from the report that in 2022 the Ministry of Finance has already carried out cuts in two financial institutions. The maximum staffing of the Nalog-Service of the Federal Tax Service was reduced by 924 units, in the Center for Supporting the Activities of the Treasury of Russia – by 2196.
The number of financial institutions has been declining since 2018, RBC notes. According to Rosstat, at the beginning of 2023, 9024 federal state state institutions were registered in Russia. Most federal state institutions, including government ones, are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (2402), the Ministry of Justice (1958), the Federal Penitentiary Service (1724), and the Ministry of Defense (985).
