Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss will soon resign, reports RBC citing five sources close to the presidential administration. One of the interlocutors of the publication noted that Mr. Uss had already written a letter of resignation. However, the press service of Alexander Uss named rumors about his possible resignation.
According to RBC, Alexander Uss will take the post of senator of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Deputy Finance Minister Mikhail Kotyukov can replace Mr. Uss as governor of the region.
Alexander Uss became governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in 2018, gaining 60.2% of the vote in the elections. His term of office expires this year. In early February, Kommersant sources reportedthat in the presidential administration the position of Mr. Uss as the head of the region is assessed poorly. However, Kommersant’s interlocutors did not provide an unambiguous forecast for his resignation. According to one of the interlocutors, Mr. Uss has very strong patrons.
In October 2022, the governor’s son, Artem Uss, was detained in Milan at the request of the United States. US authorities accuse him of smuggling oil, exporting military technology through shell companies and money laundering. On October 27, he was arrested in absentia in Russia on suspicion of money laundering, he was put on the federal wanted list. December 2 Mr. Uss translated under house arrest in a suburb of Milan.
