The acting governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotsenko, found candidates for senators from the region to replace Elena Mizulina. About it informed RBC with reference to sources.

According to the newspaper, the main candidate for the post of senator from the head of the region is the deputy head of the federal territory “Sirius” Ivan Evstifeev. In 2004-2008 Evstifeev worked in the regional government, and was also deputy head of the regional executive committee of the United Russia party.

In addition, Vadim Berezhny, the head physician of the Clinical Medical and Surgical Center of the Ministry of Health of the Omsk Region, and Yulia Chekhlova, an English teacher at secondary school No. 28, are considering becoming senators. According to the law, a candidate for the post of governor must nominate three candidates for the position of senator from the region to the election commission. After the elections, the elected head of the region presents one candidate to the Federation Council.

On July 17, Khotsenko’s press secretary Mina Akhverdiyeva reportedthat the head of the region did not include Elena Mizulina in the list of candidates for the Federation Council. Previously RBC wrotethat Mizulina may leave the Federation Council after a single day of voting on September 10.

Mizulina was appointed to the post of senator from the Omsk region in 2015. First, she represented Governor Viktor Nazarov in the Federation Council, and then Alexander Burkov, who resigned at the end of March this year. Before the Federation Council, Mizulina was a State Duma deputy and chairman of the committee on family, women and children.
