Rashid Nurgaliyev will coordinate the scientific council under the Security Council

Rashid Nurgaliyev, First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council. This was announced by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev.

“The First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Rashid Gumarovich Nurgaliev became the Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council. His duties will include the general organization of the activities of the scientific council, ”explained Patrushev (quote according to TASS).

Patrushev added that the assistant secretary of the Security Council, Dmitry Gribkov, will now be responsible for planning the work of the scientific council, organizing the preparation and holding of plenary meetings. The Secretary of the Security Council noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Scientific Council, whose activities are “highly in demand.”

The Scientific Council under the Security Council was created for the purpose of scientific support for the organization, according to the website of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. It consists of representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, branch academies of sciences, heads of scientific and educational organizations of higher education, etc. The chairman of the scientific council is Nikolai Patrushev.

Previously, Yury Averyanov, First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, was in charge of coordinating the scientific council. February 1 Russian President Vladimir Putin freed him from this position. Averyanov became an assistant to the chairman of United Russia, Dmitry Medvedev.

Rashid Nurgaliyev is 66 years old. From 2004 to 2012, he served as Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation. Then he acted as Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. From February 2023 appointed First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council.

Nurgaliyev was awarded a number of state awards, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland I, II, III and IV degrees, Alexander Nevsky, Order of Military Merit and Honor. He was also awarded medals and a certificate of honor and gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation.
