In her letter, the prime minister noted the “bipolar” division of the world into autocracies and democracies, and that Italy has chosen its own pole. “We are on the side of freedom and democracy without “ifs” and “buts”, and this is the best way to update the message of April 25th. Because with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, our freedom is again in concrete danger,” Meloni told fellow citizens. She supplemented these general arguments with an expression of pride for her involvement in the adoption of the European Parliament resolution of September 2019 “On the importance of preserving historical memory for the future of Europe,” in which the USSR was actually accused of unleashing the Second World War along with Hitler.
