Rector of RANEPA Alexey Komissarov in video congratulations on the occasion of Russian Student Day, he announced that university students participating in a military special operation in Ukraine will be transferred to a budget-funded form of education.

“We have decided that all students who are in the SVO zone will continue their studies free of charge, regardless of the form of study,” said Mr. Komissarov.

Congratulating the students, the rector noted that separately “with great warmth and gratitude” I would like to thank the students who are now in the combat zone.

At the end of 2022, President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which the children of participants in the military operation, as well as Heroes of Russia and holders of the Order of Courage, will be able to study at universities under a quota. They were required to allocate at least 10% of all places for enrollment. In November 2023, the Ministry of Education and Science reportedthat almost 35 thousand combatants and members of their families are studying in Russian universities. More than 800 of them completed a transfer from paid to budget-funded education.
