Since the beginning of 2023, more than 70% of Moscow couples have applied for marriage registration via the Internet, Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, said on the city mayor’s portal.
“We are working hard to ensure that marriage registration in Moscow is comfortable and convenient at all stages, starting from filing an application. For 2023, more than 70% of couples apply for marriage registration online. Compared to 2019, the share of online applications has more than doubled,” the deputy mayor said.
More than 20,000 new applications have already been submitted this year, 15% of which are for offsite locations, Rakova noted. She also added that over 30% of applications were submitted for the summer season – about 8,000 couples.
On January 24, the official website of the Mayor of Moscow reported a record number of marriages in 2022 over the past 105 years – more than 100,000 registered couples.
